The luxury brand has launched a range of beautifully designed (and ultra covetable) accessories, offering a fresh twist on the iconic Cartier Panthère

In jewellery it is one of the most enduring design motifs: the Cartier Panthère, designed in 1914 by Louis Cartier, and then brought to greater significance by Jeanne Toussaint.

The feline form is now immortalised in a new collection of limited edition bags, now available in Harrods;

The first, the Panthère de Cartier Satin Pouch, depicts a Panther’s head emblazoned on the oblong bag in geometric form, made up of bronze and turquoise pixels. This costs £2190 and four will be available in the UK (138 worldwide) from November 1st.

This December a new room opened in Harrods dedicated solely to the Parisian watch and jewellery house. The Cartier Room will be double the size of the previous boutique and will include two private salons, a diamond area and zones dedicated to masculine and feminine pieces. To coincide with the launch of the room, three more pouches will be offered, this time monochrome with bejewelled clasps. The pouches depict a golden Panthère head and golden finish chain, of which one in precious leather: malachite-coloured crocodile skin (five pieces; POA). Malachite calfskin (eight pieces; £2450) and Champagne-coloured goatskin (12 pieces; £2450) will also be available.

‘The evening bags are the expression of Cartier’s vision of feminine Elegance, inspired by Jeanne Toussaint who used to mix jewellery and evening bag,’ offers Pierre Rainero, Director of Image, Style and Heritage at Cartier. ‘These pieces were at the origin of a new gesture, and a new form of feminine style. For the Panthère de Cartier evening bag, you can wear it as a pochette (putting you hand under the strap that show a stylised head of Panther) and as a traditional bag on the shoulder, with its chain hidden within the bag. For this new edition, we used a specific colour for the alligator, a strong and deep nuance of green evoking precious old mined emeralds from Columbia.’
