First created in 1931, Bendick's Chocolates is one of the few constants in life, using the same recipe for 95 years.

Presented by Bendicks.

Long before Bendicks became synonymous with refined chocolate and royal recognition, it was defined by a simple ambition: to create something exceptional. That ambition took shape in London in 1930, when Oscar Benson and Colonel Dickson began producing chocolates in a modest basement on Church Street in Kensington, guided by a belief that true indulgence comes from craftsmanship and care.

In 1931, the brand’s most iconic creation followed, when Lucia Benson, Mr. Benson’s sister-in-law, created the signature Bittermint – an intense mint fondant enrobed in indulgent dark chocolate made from 95 per cent cocoa solids. Bold, distinctive and unmistakably refined, it marked the beginning of an enduring classic. Bendicks’ reputation for quality grew,  and a store opened in London’s Mayfair in 1933, cementing the brand’s place at the heart of the capital and establishing a legacy that continues more than 95 years on.

This commitment to excellence was formally recognised in 1962, when Bendicks was granted a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. More than six decades later, that proud association continues, with the Royal Warrant granted by His Majesty King Charles III in 2024 – a mark that reflects not only quality, but consistency across generations.

Though the world has changed, Bendicks’ approach has remained reassuringly constant. The iconic Bittermint is still made using the same original recipe first created in 1931, made with carefully selected ingredients and a respect for traditional methods passed down over time.
