28-32 St Martin’s Court, WC2N 4AL
This is the ultimate classic restaurant in the area serving up the best fish. A “must go” place in the area with a real sense of occasion.
Upstairs at Rules
34-35 Maiden Lane, WC2E 7LB
This is a great bar and was one of our original inspirations for Mr Fogg’s Residence and Tavern, one of London’s best kept secrets.
New Row Coffee
24 New Row, WC2N 4LA
This serves the best coffee in London and my business partner Charlie and I both relied on it heavily during the Mr Fogg’s Tavern build for early morning site visits.
Barrafina on Drury Lane
43 Drury Lane, WC2B 5AJ
I love the open kitchen which gives a real sense of theatre to this excellent Spanish restaurant. I always sit on the comfortable leather stools at the beautiful marble-topped bar to watch the chefs at work.
23A New Row, WC2N 4LA
London doesn’t have enough hat shops and this one is a real gem. It has hats and caps from the 1920s and 1930s and mod-inspired hats from the 1960s. This is another great shop for us to visit when we’re looking for ideas for staff uniforms and characters for our venues.
London Transport Museum
Covent Garden Piazza, WC2E 7BB
This provided the inspiration for our bar Cahoots, which is set in an underground train station from the 1940s. It’s a fun and interactive museum full of original vehicles from a bygone era.
11 Langley Street, WC2H 9JG
I come here for the best steak and great cocktails. I love the classic décor and the sides are amazing too, ordering mac & cheese as a side with steak feels seriously decadent but once in a while is a real treat!
