The owner of Trunk Clothiers is an extraordinary ambassador for his own elegant Marylebone menswear emporium. For SPHERE he discusses Danish murder mysteries, Japanese whisky and why you can't go wrong with a Rolex Explorer.

Holiday destination you would recommend?
I love travelling and recently went to São Lourenço do Barrocal in Monsaraz in Portugal for the first time and fell in love! It's in Alentejo, which is more famous for Comporta, but this is inland right on the border with Spain, so very different. It's a beautiful and lovely place with the best food, so the perfect place to go to just switch off for a bit.

Current favourite TV show?
The Chestnut Man from Denmark on Netflix.

Artist you admire?
David Shrigley. Love what he does for its simplicity and his sense of humour.

Watch of choice?
Rolex Explorer. Classic, timeless and works well with everything.

What bottle never leaves your cocktail cabinet?
Nikka From The Barrel. Both tastes and looks good.

Next big trend?
I think getting dressed up again is making a comeback for sure, so more tailoring and less loungewear.

Favourite label and why?
Judging from my wardrobe and what I'm wearing most days it's Trunk's very own in-house label. Lots of cosy knitwear, great shirts, trousers, jackets and coats to choose from.

What should everyone know about buying property?
Buy primarily because you'd love to live there. Renovations always end up taking longer and costing more than you initially thought, so always keep that in mind when making budgets.

What does luxury mean to you?
Something that has been well made, feels unique, is difficult to get hold of and that will last for a generation or more.
