As Boodles' marketing director, James Amos knows the ins and outs of Mayfair, the area home to the Boodles flagship store. Here are his favourite places to visit

James Amos

James Amos is part of the sixth generation of family members to work for luxury jewellers Boodles. He managed its Harrods boutique and Dublin shop before becoming Boodles’ Marketing Director.

26 Albemarle Street, W1S 4HY

A great spot for breakfast. I always have scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and a flat white. They know me so well that I don’t even need to order!

Justerini & Brooks

61 St James’s Street, SW1A 1LZ

I like to buy the Château Beaumont from here — in particular magnums from 2010 — my friends know they’ll only be served this when they come for dinner at my house.

Pollen Street Social

8-10 Pollen Street, W1S 1NQ

I come here with friends. You order three courses and end up with seven thanks to their “amuse bouches” — each course is a work of art.

Mr Fogg’s Residence

15 Bruton Lane, W1J 6JD

I love drinking a “Spicy Rupee” here with the owner, Charlie Gilkes, an old friend.

Fortnum & Mason

181 Piccadilly, W1A 1ER

It solves my Christmas present dilemmas year in, year out.

Paxton & Whitfield

93 Jermyn Street, SW1Y 6JE

We love their cheese and gave Christmas hampers to some of our customers. I particularly like their truffle brie.

The American Bar

The Stafford, 16-18 St James’s Place, SW1A 1NJ

A perfect cross between an English pub and a gentleman’s club, but without the airs and graces.

William Evans

67a St James’s Street, SW1A 1PH

They look after my lovely old gun — it has a habit of going wrong at key moments during the season — and offer a fantastic service.

The Barber Shop on Mill Street

2 Mill Street, W1S 2AT

My uncle, Michael Wainwright, who is the MD of Boodles, and I come here.

George Cleverley

13 The Royal Arcade, Old Bond Street, W1S 4SL

I’m not a customer yet, but I’ve been eyeing up their brown leather loafers.
