One step in my morning ritual I’ll never skip… Coffee. I’ll never skip my coffee.

A question that never gets old: how do they do it — and how can we do it too?
David Gandy, one of the world’s most famous (and handsome) faces and founder of WellWear, sat down with SPHERE to share his no-nonsense wellness and fitness tips, the launch of Technogym's new Sand Stone line, and how his favourite place to go on holiday is at home in Richmond Park.
I once fell victim to the health trend of... hot yoga. I tried it but couldn’t stand it — too hot for my liking.
The top three songs on my workout playlist right now are... Without Me by Eminem, The Impossible Dream by Andy Williams and Long Tall Sally by Little Richard.
Building a home gym was a must-have because… It's not the easiest when you have a family and two young children to fit in training. I can put the kids to bed and then use the gym and I’m still around the house, it’s fab. I've always been banging on to everyone about the importance of resistance training and weight training, so the equipment was the most important feature. Subsequently, my partner got into resistance training and weights, and she admits she’s in the best shape she’s ever been in.
Using Technogym equipment to make my home gym was essential because… It’s miles ahead of anyone. The machines are so advanced that it’s like your own personal trainer — it’s astonishing. With other brands, you’ll have racks and racks of dumbbells and they take up a lot of space. Whereas now you’ve got the two (Technogym) dumbbells with the connect system, where you can go from 2kg to 22kg through your phone. I’ve never looked at gym equipment in regard to the way we style houses. I love restoring houses and restoring classic cars, so my whole life is based around textures and designs, patterns and colours - making them aesthetically pleasing to everyone. With the Technogym Sand Stone line, you haven't got that usual dark element of gym equipment, because there is now this beautiful surface. The only trouble is now I need to update my gym.
My take on protein powders and supplements is… there are good foods and there are bad foods. And then there are bad foods advertised as good foods. It's up to people to do their research about it and be educated about that. Yes, I take supplements, I take protein... I take more creatine than I have in a long time. It used to be just when I was heavily training, but I take it every day now. I usually go on the fact that when something with supplements tastes too good to be true, it probably isn't very natural.
Fitness has changed since I’ve gotten older as... I understand more about training. I know now that when you push the heaviest weight possible, it usually leads to injuries. And believe me, I’ve paid. I have disc degeneration, I’ve pulled muscles, I had golf elbow a few years ago, and that is all from not training properly... But, of course, when you have Technogym, you’ve got technology that isn’t allowing you to push that amount of weight so, you're never pushing yourself over what you should be doing.
My go-to 10-minute clean meal is... a lettuce wrap. So large lettuce leaves and then I pile everything into it, like beans, rice, chicken, vegetables and a little bit of chilli on top. A two-minute meal. Impressive. If you don’t have to cook the chicken, yes. But yes, that’s probably my quickest meal.
One thing I’ve learned from starting a brand… is don't start your own brand! A lot of other brands will tell you, not just startup brands but very established brands, that it is tough at the moment. That said, when we launched underwear at WellWear, they nearly sold out that weekend. I hope that continues in 2026.
The first tailored clothing that I owned… wasn't tailored to me - it was tailored to my dad. It was a pin-stripe, blue and grey suit. I couldn't afford suits when I first started working, and he had it in his wardrobe and later on I had it tailored to me. That was my first, well I say tailored, but a sort-of tailored piece. The second piece I got was when I started working with Dolce & Gabbana. I was going to the British Fashion Awards, so I bought this brown velvet Dolce & Gabbana suit. They didn't make many of them, and I still have it today because it's a very rare suit. Maybe if I'd known I was going to work for Dolce, I wouldn't have spent so much money on this suit...
My go-to weekend escape from the city buzz is… Home! I built a house in Richmond Park over the last couple of years, and I've been there for nearly three years now. We live in London, but we have these 2,700 acres with deer and owls and birds of prey. We go out with the kids and hunt for insects, build fairy dens, and they go riding — it's like being in the country. The kids go horse riding in Richmond Park. My getaway is spending time with my kids. That's all I want to do. To get away from the daily business of trying to run a fashion brand.
