Leading ladies: the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards

The winners of the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards have been announced. Each year, six laureates (one from each continent) are honoured for their social, creative and financial impact. Each Laureate is awarded with a Cartier-designed trophy and US $20,000 of sponsorship money to further their work.

With women being the creative force and inspiration behind much of Cartier’s designs, it is fitting that the luxury brand should help promote and celebrate the entrepreneurial talents of women around the world.

This year’s winners are:

Komal Dadlani (Chile), Mobile applications turning smartphones and tablets into science instruments

Alexandra Greenhill (Canada), Platform providing childcare, home care and care for the elderly

Ciara Clancy (Ireland), Sound wave treatment application for people with Parkinson’s disease

Mouna Abbassy (United Arab Emirates), Cosmetics made of Argan oil and natural ingredients from Morocco

Chinwe Ohajuruka (Nigeria), Affordable energy-efficient houses

Hannah Chou (Taiwan), Mobile app listing disability-friendly restaurants
