Our monthly guide to all the October events in London – everything from six-course dessert menus and three Michelin-starred breakfasts to Tate Britain's 90s exhibition and Frieze.

It may not be a million degrees anymore, but autumn still seems to evade us. Leaves are clinging onto trees for dear life; it’s been far too warm to reach for your favourite jacket, and as for anything pumpkin spice flavoured, it feels positively criminal to start reaching for it. But whether the weather has got the memo or not, there are plenty of events worth leaving the house for. From celebrating the 90s at Tate Britain to Marco Pierre White’s spin on a full English, these are the October events in London to know about.

Ronnie Scott’s at Seabird, Hoxton Hotel

Ronnie Scott's, October events London,
Ronnie Scott's live at Seabird, in partnership with Grey Goose.

Trade in your outdoor aperitivo terrace for a moody hotel bar filled with classic cocktails and dulcet jazzy tones at Ronnie Scott’s Seabird pop-up. In partnership with Grey Goose, Ronnie Scott’s will bring dining and DJs to the 14th floor of the Hoxton Hotel each Sunday, headlined by some of the biggest names in Jazz. The cocktail menu features “stirred, not shaken” drinks to avoid disturbing the performances, including tipples such as the bergamot martini made with bergamot cordial, charcoaled lobster oil, and saline, served with an oyster. To accompany, there will be a four-course menu offering Seabird’s signature Iberian flavours and seafood-centric dishes.

October marks the beginning of the prized truffle season, so it’s only right to indulge in the “diamonds of the kitchen”. Available at both sites – the original in Knightsbridge and Sale e Pepe Mare at The Langham – Sale e Pepe is launching a dedicated truffle menu complete with the likes of truffle beef carpaccio, tajarin al tartufo and vanilla semifreddo finished with black truffle. Guests can also elevate any dish with freshly shaved white truffle in place of black truffle.

90s nostalgia is going absolutely nowhere, thanks in part to Tate Britain’s latest exhibition. Curated by fashion industry behemoth and former Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful OBE, The 90s: Art and Fashion will focus on the creative period that changed the face of British Culture. Expect photography, fashion, art and design, including iconic images by photographers including Juergen Teller, David Sims and Corinne Day, as well as fashion film and music culture, including collections by decade-defining designers Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, and John Galliano.

Six-Course Dessert-Only Tasting Menu

Àclèaf, October events London.
Àclèaf's six-course dessert tasting menu is available from 13th-18th October.

Who knew National Dessert Day was even a thing? Thank God it is, as Michelin-starred Àclèaf in Devon is launching An Ode to Dessert, a six-course tasting menu dedicated entirely to dessert. Pioneered by pastry chef John Brimecombe, the experience moves beyond traditional notions of dessert and takes guests on a journey of unexpected pairings. Beginning with a doughnut with gruyère and fig, before moving into celeriac with miso, caviar, Harrogate blue and apple, the menu starts on a more savoury note before transitioning to sweeter flavours. Other dishes include pistachio with white chocolate and maple, followed by duck egg with pear and cinnamon, before concluding with an indulgent chocolate, Nicolas Berger and date creation. Certainly worth leaving London for.
