Give yourself and your little ones some respite from half-term holiday tedium with these town and country diversions next week, and yes you can book half term’s most luxurious family afternoon teas.

The Ampersand Hotel launches Jurassic Afternoon Tea

If a day at one of Exhibition Road’s many museums beckons next week, make sure it’s followed by a visit to the Ampersand Hotel to enjoy their spectacular new Jurassic Afternoon Tea.

Alongside savoury treats such as T-Rex cheese straws and Dinosaur jam sandwiches, expect a Raspberry & lemon crémeux volcano eruption, a chocolate & caramel dinosaur egg nest, and a Mini dinosaur biscuit & milk chocolate fossil.

Whilst children enjoy their accompanying hot chocolate, adults can indulge in a more grown-up offering comprising the choice of either a glass of Charles Heidsieck Brut NV or rosé Champagne, or a glass of alcohol-free Wild Idol sparkling rosé.

The Jurassic Afternoon Tea, £35 for children and from £49.50 for adults.

The 100 Queens Gate Hotel launches Little Explorers Afternoon Tea

100 Queen’s Gate Hotel, the five-star boutique hotel in the heart of Kensington, is encouraging curiosity and discovery with the launch of a special ‘Little Explorers Afternoon Tea’ taking young children on a journey through space with a range of innovative sweet and savoury treats.

For adults who buy themselves an afternoon tea at £46, or with Champagne at £58 per person, Children will be fuelled with crudite ‘rockets’, Saturn scones, Asteroid Candy, Meteor Popcorn and hot chocolate for an additional £18..

The Little Explorers Afternoon Tea will be served from 12:30pm-4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The event takes place in the hotel’s W/A Kensington Restaurant & Bar, for children aged 3 to 12.
