According to the FT, the jewellery market’s momentum shows no sign of slowing, with HSBC noting that it is currently outperforming the broader luxury sector. We’re spotlighting five cool jewellery brands to get to know before everyone else does.

Après Youth
Playful, funky and oh-so-bright, pieces from Aprés Youth are made to be asked about with every wear. Created to bring something new to the demi-fine bracket, the pieces are deliberately designed to be worn across ages – because, according to founder Emily Brown, the real fun starts après youth. A Sinner in Pearls
‘Dark luxury’ is an aesthetic we are seeing more of, with gothic accents blending into the clean minimalism of luxury. A Sinner in Pearls crafts jewellery pieces that perfectly slot into this rising style category. Spearheaded by designer and former menswear stylist Samuel Gallagher, the brand uses semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls to create textural pieces reminiscent of rosaries and other religious iconography. Worn by F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, the brand is gaining traction as a unisex label that brings feminine masculinity to the jewellery market.

Sophie Whitelaw
All about bespoke, Sophie Whitelaw delivers pieces that you take part in designing every step of the way. Most used for special pieces such as engagement rings, the experience is designed to be uniquely personal and dedicated to crafting a piece that reflects the wearer exactly. The engagement ring design process starts with a 20-minute chat with Sophie to paint a picture of who your partner is and what they like in their jewellery. The next step is the all-important selection of the ring’s central gemstone, before the design is brought to life through sketches built around the dimensions of the chosen stone. Following that, a computer-aided design is shared with you before the final piece is brought to fruition. With such a process, we can only hope they say yes!

Carola Solcia
A creative born from the school of many greats, Central Saint Martins, Italian designer Carola Solcia works by hand in her London studio to create artisanal pieces using negative space, carved mother-of-pearl and bright engraved stones such as carnelian and lapis. Each piece is made with the aim of lasting a lifetime, and no two are the same. Many of her designs play with light, using carved metal backings to create illusions and patterns behind the set gemstones. Having featured alongside other rising jewellers in this year’s Dover Street Market Summer Exhibition, her name is certainly one to watch.

Arte Nova
Born in 2019 but backed by serious heritage, Arte Nova’s backstory stretches back to 1956, when goldsmith José Martins Barbosa founded what would become one of Portugal’s leading gold and silver jewellery manufacturers. Today, the founder’s legacy is carried through in this newer understated brand, using traditional Portuguese craftsmanship and working with fine gold and silver to create wearable, minimalist pieces. Think nature-inspired details – florals, leaves, trees, bees and butterflies – reimagined in silhouettes that feel modern, chic and timeless.
