The luxury British perfumer has gone back to its roots with the launch of two redeveloped, limited-edition fragrances crafted with orange blossom

New for spring, the latest scents from independent perfume house Clive Christian borrow inspiration from of British royalty's most enduring love stories - that of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. On the day of their engagement, the Prince famously gifted his betrothed with a porcelain and gold brooch in the shape of a sprig of orange blossom - said to symbolise love and fertility - which became an emblem for the couple throughout their relationship.

Clive Christian - with its trademark crown-shaped motif - has roots in the royal romance, given that its predecessor, the Crown Perfumery Company, was the only house ever permitted to use the image of Queen Victoria's regal headwear in its packaging. In homage to its beginnings, the brand has revisited its Original Collection 1872 and X perfumes with notes of delicate mandarin blossom and bitter orange Neroli fruit respectively.

Crafted with a formulation of 149 ingredients, the zesty 1872 Mandarin creates the scented sensation of an orange grove in summer. Its fresh mandarin top note segues into a romantic violet aroma, with a musky citrus fusion at the base. Meanwhile, X Neroli - made with 192 ingredients for a truly complex finish - takes a more floral route, opening with fresh green notes of neroli that give way to a tuberose heart. The cashmere fusion base note offers a sweet yet musky finish. Both fragrances in the pair contain a 20% perfume concentration, ensuring long-lasting wear on the skin.

Only 1,872 bottles of each perfume have been made in total - a nod to the Crown Perfumery Company's establishing year - which are individually numbered and only available to purchase in the UK.
