Chanel Couture's mid-calf boots were eyed up as the future Chanel must-have at the Haute Couture shows. So good, we want them now.

For those of you idly wondering what Haute Couture has to do with your life today, we’d like to bring the recent Chanel show in Paris to your attention.

While much has been made of the adorable drummer-girl tweed skirt suits, and the natty majorette bow-ties and top hats on show at Chanel, the real breakout viral stars of the show were the boots.

Chanel Boots Go Viral
Oval toed, and with contrast tips, these low-heeled boots offered in either black and white or gold and black, were the viral hit from Chanel Haute Couture show last month

Why? Round toed, and in either lace-up white, or pull on gold with contrasting black tips, these mid-calf boots with their lowish block heel answer a need, not yet being met by those interested in updating their style between winter and spring.

Apple Martin
Apple Martin is the new face of Chanel

Chanel’s designer Virginie Viard is one of the few designers working with an haute couture atelier whose clothes and accessories come from the “real clothes for real people” school of thinking.

Which is why these boots are out and out winners. As evidenced by the catwalk collection they work equally well with jeans, a midi-skirt, a mini-skirt and shorts as they do with a flouncy long dress. It left us wondering: did Apple Martin get given a pair? If she did, she'd better watch out in case Gwyneth swoops into to borrow them.

So, a fashion boot that goes with everything? Sign us up! Let's hope Chanel release them soon, we'll be watching the boots pages on for updates. But our bet is the high street will be sending out their versions soon enough.
