At the end of the month, the Terrence Higgins Auction will return to the iconic Christie’s auction house. Welcoming more than 250 guests, the evening brings together an exceptional selection of artworks and luxury experiences to raise vital funds to help support people living with HIV and end new HIV cases in the UK.
The Terrence Higgins Auction Returns to Christie's
10th March 2026
The highly anticipated Terrence Higgins annual auction returns to Christie’s on 25th March. SPHERE takes a look at the preview and online lot.
Speaking about the auction, Dominic Edwardes, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Terrence Higgins Trust, describes the auction as “more than a celebration of art” and a “catalyst for change”. “Every bid helps us get closer to a future where there are no new HIV cases in the UK, where everyone living with HIV gets the support they need and HIV stigma has been ended.”
Beginning on 16th March, the online auction opens first and will feature a range of art, fashion, travel and experience lots. This year’s live auction headline lot, on 25th March, is the remarkable work by internationally acclaimed artist Raqib Shaw. ‘Nowadays, I am able to greet beauty (butterfly version)’, is an intricate and hallucinatory composition crafted in acrylic liner, enamel, graphite and rhinestones on paper. The work exemplifies the fantastical visual language that has made Shaw one of the most celebrated contemporary artists of his generation.
Other standout artworks include a soft-ground etching by Howard Hodgkin, one of Britain’s most beloved painters and printmakers, and a recent mixed-media wall sculpture by Natalia Kapchuk from her celebrated series, The Lost Planet. Luxury experiences include a two-night stay in St Regis Florence, with the chance to get an exclusive tour of the Ferragamo Museum by a member of the Ferragamo family.
One lot SPHERE is particularly excited for is the private tour for two of the Aston Martin factory in Gaydon, to be hosted personally by iconic British designer Marek Reichman, who designed the cars for the recent James Bond films. This includes a visit to the design studio as well as an accompanied drive in a recent Aston Martin.
For fans of reality TV, lunch is on the table with the outspoken and energetic Panthea Parker – the star of the recently launched Real Housewives of London.
Christie’s is globally known for its ability to bring together collectors, philanthropists and cultural figures around extraordinary works. The evening is one of the most prestigious and highly-anticipated the philanthropic calendar. The sale offers both seasoned collectors and first-time bidders the opportunity to acquire exceptional pieces while supporting a vital cause.
