The Chanel Chance Street pop-up has painted Shoreditch purple. We step inside the playful, immersive space and uncover the luminous scent behind it: Chance Eau Splendide.

With the fresh launch of Chanel Chance Eau Splendide, only one London street seemed a fitting location to open a vibrant pop-up: Chance Street. Down in the cobbled graffiti-filled lanes of Shoreditch, this exclusive space is injecting a burst of lilac into the E1 postcode—inviting guests to take a chance. Here we look inside this violet-shaded wonderland to see what immersive experiences are in store.

Back to the Beginning of Chance

First, a bit about the fragrance behind the pop-up, diving back to its very beginning. The original Chanel Chance fragrance was born back in 2002, becoming the new curvaceous addition to the parfum portfolio alongside icons like Chanel No.5 and Chanel Mademoiselle. But what was it that made Chance different? It brought new layers of florals to Chanel’s fragrance offering with a *literally* rounder persona both with scent and bottle shape. Like many Chanel perfumes, the namesake of Chance links back to Coco Chanel herself.

The whole mantra behind it is the idea that a chance is fleeting, and you only have a few seconds to seize it. Originally inspired by a quote from Mademoiselle Chanel: “A chance came up, I seized it.” Just like chance itself, the Chance fragrance presents itself as an olfactory encounter, enveloping you into a whirlwind of Jasmine, Pink Pepper and Amber Patchouli. In the decades since, the selection has expanded with three more chances: Chance Eau Fraiche, Chance Eau Tendre and Chance Eau Vive. Now a fifth joins the family, Chance Eau Splendide.

Introducing Chance Eau Splendide

Sparkling, astonishing, mystifying—Chanel Chance Eau Splendide is here. A tangy blend of tart raspberry, rose, and geranium draws you in, while soft notes of cedar, white musk, and iris lend a luminous, floral finish that lingers with elegance. Its campaign, brought vividly to life in the Chance Street pop-up, sees Belgian singer Angèle finding Chance through a purple, neon-lit maze of mirrors.

Inspired by the feeling of the fragrance, Angèle has also composed and performed her new song, “a little more” — now available on all platforms. For those looking to go beyond simply watching and listening, the Chance Street pop-up offers an immersive way to experience Chance Eau Splendide — a must for true Chanel fragrance devotees.

Take a Chance

Inviting guests to step into the neon mystique of the campaign, the Chanel Chance Street pop-up is a purple-powered fever dream with a whimsical hall of mirrors that echoes the campaign’s setting. The exterior has undergone a full Chance makeover, complete with a striking mural that peeks out from behind buildings and can be spotted from every surrounding street — you really can’t miss it.

Inside, visitors are invited to try their luck at playful games of chance and explore the complete Chance fragrance collection, including the newest addition, Eau Splendide. Beyond scent, the experience shines a spotlight on the wider Chanel Beauty offering with a bookable 75-minute Chance beauty service (£60). This includes a personalised consultation with a makeup artist to discover one of five different makeup looks, each inspired by a different Chance fragrance. Whether an electric purple sparkle inspired by Eau Splendide or a coral-driven look inspired by the notes of Eau Vive, this service allows you to take a chance outside of your comfort zone with your makeup. Rounding off the visit on a sweet note—and nodding to the funfair-inspired aesthetic of the campaign—guests are treated to a complimentary stick of candy floss inspired by the fragrance.
