Upcoming book 'Lucian Freud: Catalogue Raisonné of the Prints', will document every print the artist every created and include previously unseen reworked etchings.
Many of these collected images were among more than 140 trial proofs gathered by the printmaker Marc Balakjian, who worked with Freud for many years.
Interviewed by The Guardian, the book’s author, Toby Treves, the Tate’s former collections curator of 20th-century British art, said: “There are a couple of really lovely ones where you wonder why he didn’t publish them because they’re great.”
A follow up book, Lucian Freud: Catalogue Raisonné of the Paintings will be published in 2023.
Lucian Freud: Catalogue Raisonné of the Print will be published by Modern Art Press on May 24th 2022.
