A Belgian chocolate on your pillow, a fuzzy hug of terry towelling engulfing you as you exit the shower, coming back to find the whirlwind of getting-ready chaos you left behind carefully placed into uniform line-ups of makeup essentials. These are some of the simple pleasures you can expect when retreating to a suite for the evening. London's portfolio of luxury hotels has seriously upped its suite game in 2026, going beyond the simple pleasures that surge you into holiday mode and transporting you away from your world altogether in just one space – whether it be to the groovy times of the 70s or to a level above London where your worries can't reach you. These are the new luxury suites in London to know now. Come on in, welcome to the Suite Life.

Suite 70 and The Opera Suite at Sofitel London St James

Suite 70 at Sofitel London St James could keep any vinyl-obsessed music maniac busy for hours. The burnt orange surroundings feel as though you’ve wandered into the warming glow of a lava lamp. Framed prints of vintage ads, album covers and striking images of 70s icons like The Beatles, Twiggy and David Bowie mosaic together on the walls as piles of Taschen coffee-table books sit on the surfaces, yearning to be flicked through, and the frayed edges of aged vinyl albums line the shelves. As for the 7-inch singles, open the wall panels to reveal the secret bar in the lounge and find them neatly stocked inside the doors. All the classics are there, and the copy of Night Fever by The Bee Gees was soon under the needle of the in-suite record player during my stay. In the bedroom, an authentic 70s vintage egg chair sits in the corner beside the exclusive Sofitel MyBed™, a bed that I very much struggled to leave the following morning.

Suite 70 is one of two new flagship suites at Sofitel London St James, both launched alongside four fresh Prestige Suites at the hotel, thus completing its multi-phase transformation. The second flagship suite, the Opera Suite, takes a chicer, more minimalist approach to the era. With a simpler and softer palette of neutrals and pale pinks and curved forms built into the suite, it takes inspiration from the sculptural designs of 1970s London. At 109 square metres, with a dining room for up to 12 guests, the Opera Suite is fitting for a serene evening of laid-back hosting, whereas Suite 70 is made to ramp up the Dire Straits and have a barefoot boogie across the soft tangerine carpet.

Rates for Suite 70 and the Opera Suite start from £2,100 per night. Find out more and book via sofitelstjames.com

The Residence at Claridge's

Levels above the glossy monochrome floor of the Claridge's lobby sits The Residence – a futuristic step forward for the classical Mayfair hotel. Five years in the making, this duplex super-suite covers 300 sqm and features a junior master ensuite bedroom, a master bedroom, family salon and outdoor terrace with a crescent-shaped infinity hydro-pool. The design brainchild of André Fu, The Residence offers a modernised interpretation of the hotel's Art Deco heritage. "It is a re-telling of Claridge's very own heritage story," says Fu.

Fluid, open and bright, it is laid out as an oblong glasshouse with 270-degree skyline views. Floor-to-ceiling windows enclose a layered open-plan entertainment space of dusty blue cool tones and marble throughout, with a lacquered white spiral staircase ribboning the two levels together. While it would be tempting to keep The Residence all to yourself, this is a penthouse you would be remiss not to host in.

The Garden Suite at Four Seasons Hotel London Park Lane

Unveiled in May, the Garden Suite is one of 14 newly renovated suites at this upmarket Mayfair hotel close to Hyde Park. The space has showstopping proportions, centred around an elegant living space with twin sofas, a fireplace, wood-panelled walls, bronze-accented interiors and Murano glass light fittings. Elsewhere, there’s a separate dining room, a galley kitchen, a spacious walk-in wardrobe and a marble bathroom with a tub by the window. The generous glass-fronted terrace is the major draw though, wrapping around one end of the hotel with its dining and lounging zones for people-watching on Park Lane.

Signature suite guests also enjoy a range of extra benefits from use of the in-house Bentley to complimentary tickets to sold-out exhibitions at the V&A South Kensington. Plus there’s a tenth-floor spa with a view, Michelin-starred fine-dining at Pavyllon by Yannick Alleno and the lively Bar Antoine with its hidden garden terrace, inventive cocktails and quirky dishes inspired by French classics.

Rooms at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane start from £750 per night. The Garden suite starts at £10,000 per night. Book now at fourseasons.com

The Royal Suite at The Dorchester

Bursting at the seams with garden party panache, The Royal Suite at The Dorchester feels as though seen through the lens of Cecil Beaton's camera. Olive-green vines weave their way up the wallpapers of the verdant dining area, which overlooks the lawned stretch of Hyde Park. The extravagant dining room comes with the means to host in it too, with a private kitchen for The Dorchester's culinary team to prepare seamless in-suite dinners.

The antique-style furnishings throughout the rest of the suite take on elegant shades of pale pink, blue and green – reminiscent of untouched porcelain cups at a tea party – as Versailles-like grandeur unfolds across the sitting room with bespoke carpets, regal floral patterns and parquet floors. Designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, The Royal Suite forms part of the final stage of The Dorchester's significant transformation, alongside the recently renovated Oliver Messel Suite.

The Royal Suite starts at £30,000 per night, with a portion of the proceeds from each stay going to The Royal Parks Charity to support the conservation of urban parks across London. Find out more via dorchestercollection.com

The Stable Suites at Coworth Park

Luxury Suites in London - bedroom of a stable suite at Coworth Park.

Though not strictly in London, the new stable suites and cottages at the Dorchester's Ascot-based sister property, Coworth Park, deserve a mention here. Designed by Martin Hulbert and his team, the suites draw inspiration from the soft wildflower meadows that surround them. Flora works its way into several elements of the space: dried petals encased in bespoke resin tables, motifs hand-sketched onto wall textiles and delicate yellow pastels running through the colour palette.

At the edge of Coworth Park's expansive estate sit two world-class polo grounds, and it's this equestrian heritage that informs a number of artworks throughout the suites as well as the rich leather upholstery. The standout addition, however, is the private terraces and gardens that back onto each suite. Ideal for a private pre-dinner spritz in the evening, an al fresco breakfast or a direct passage to a breath of fresh countryside air.

The newly designed Stable rooms, Suites and Cottages at Coworth Park start from £860 per night. Find out more and book via dorchestercollection.com/ascot/coworth-park
