Awards season is upon us, and with it comes not only a dissection of the nominated films, but also a dissection of the nominees’ sartorial and beauty choices. At SPHERE, we’ve already covered how to get red carpet hair – thank you, Anthea Turner and Lino Carbosiero. But now, courtesy of CHANEL, we’ve got the inside track on red carpet makeup. From BAFTA winner Jessie Buckley’s luminous skin to Tilda Swinton’s “dropped in from Mars” look, this is how you can recreate the most striking beauty moments of the night.
Inside the Best BAFTA 2026 Beauty Looks
23rd February 2026
Last night’s BAFTAs saw many a glowing face on the red carpet. CHANEL reveals the secrets behind some of the night’s best looks.
Jessie Buckley
For Jessie’s look, makeup artist Nina Park’s ethos was to enhance her natural features. “I wanted it to look like her skin at its absolute best, refined yet still very real while allowing her natural freckles to show through”, she shares.
To prep the skin, Le Lift Flash Eye Patches were applied, followed by Sublimage La Crème Yeux, to support under-eye rejuvenation. Any makeup artist worth their salt will understand the delicacy of the skin under your eyes and, to avoid crepey or creased concealer, will pay special attention to moisturising the area. For the base, Sublimage Crème was used to smooth, before using Les Beiges water-fresh tint for a super light layer, giving that bare skin effect. Ultra Le Teint Le Correcteur on the other (helping) hand, provided some more heavy-duty support in concealing, before setting with a natural finish loose powder. As luminous was the order of the night, Le Blanc Rosy Light Drops were essential for a rosy-glow finish, supplemented by a multi-use glow stick, and the iconic Les Beiges bronzing cream.
Jessie, of course, scooped up the Best Actress gong last night. As she was hotly tipped to win, waterproof eye makeup was critical - in case of any tears during the acceptance speech. That included a waterproof eyeliner and volumising mascara to frame the eyes, with the neutral eyeshadow quad picked to enhance her eye colour. Lastly, for lips, Nina stayed close to Jessie’s own lip shade, lining first with the Le Crayon Lèvres in rose natural before adding Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue liquid lip colour.
Tilda Swinton
Tilda’s signature look is extremely pared back. But that doesn’t mean she’s splashing some water on her face and walking out the door. In fact, as her makeup artist, Sam Bryant put it, the look was “luminous and incandescent”, inspired by as if she “had dropped in from Mars”. How very Tilda. This otherworldly aesthetic was achieved using just five products. A simple swish of tinted serum, Sublimage L’Essence de Teint, followed by a sweep of cream blusher. On the eyes, Sam opted for an iridescent pearly eyeshadow to complement Tilda’s complexion. To finish, her lips were lined with the natural rose lipliner and topped with a shimmer of moisturising gloss.
Inga Ibsdotter-Lilleaas
“Rather than masking, I created a polished finish whilst keeping everything fresh and clean”, says Mary Wiles, who created Inga Ibsdotter-Lilleaas’ BAFTA look. To get the best results, she often opts to begin with a facial massage to bring circulation to the surface and start to build a healthy glow. Last night, Mary incorporated the N°1 de CHANEL Revitalising Eye Serum and N°1 de CHANEL Revitalising Serum into this ritual. As opposed to applying the base first, she started with Inga’s eyes so that any fallout could be cleaned up. Inga’s striking combination of dark hair and bright blue eyes meant Mary chose a brown palette to work with – applying Stylo Ombre et Contour in Contour Clair as a base, then blending Electric Brown through the lid, before working it into the lash line and softly pulling it outward for gentle definition. To finish the eyes, she tapped Baume Essentiel in Scintillement onto the centre of the eyelid, using her fingertip to create a delicate flash of light. A touch of brown eyeliner defined her eye shape, and finished with Volume de CHANEL Mascara in Noir to the top lashes only, keeping the look understated and refined.
For the complexion, Mary also used Les Beiges Touche de Teint Water-Fresh Complexion to create a fresh, skin-like base. Under the eyes, she brightened using Ultra Le Teint Correcteur, before introducing warmth and soft contour with Les Beiges Bronzing Crème in Soleil Tan Bronze, blending it into the cheeks for a subtle sculpt and hint of blush. To create a “flushed-from-within glow”, she used Baume Essentiel in Cute, slightly under the eye and across the cheeks. For the lips, Mary layered Rouge Allure Velvet in Intuitive, then added Rouge Coco Baume in Honey Bliss to the centre of the bottom lip for a touch of shine and dimension.
