The dapper duo of Thom Whiddett and Luke Sweeney are the British tailors of choice for the A-List. Here the pair pick their favourite knitwear, truffle cheeseburgers and Japanese whisky.

What is a good Valentine's gift for men this February?
TW: Cashmere knitwear. It’s an investment piece but treat it well and you’ll keep it for life.

What is the best way of making a suit look more casual?
TW: It is all about the cut and structure.... or lack of it. We make our informal tailoring designed to be deconstructed.
LS: To make a suit more informal I always like to make shoulders unstructured and sometimes like to add two patch pockets …

Favourite London restaurant?
TW: Oswald's is wonderful, great food and service. Plus you can drink from your own wine collection which is great if you want to have something special
LS: Tough one that! I love Cecconi's for the atmosphere, Zuma for sushi and Jean Georges for the truffle cheeseburger.

Favourite restaurant internationally?
TW: Mamo in New York. I love the food and the atmosphere. It’s a place you’ll keep coming back to and Mike [ Mammoliti], the owner, is always there to hang with.

Holiday destination of choice?
TW: The Aman in Venice. For a long weekend away it’s magical
LS: Cape Town for adventure and beauty, Maldives to relax

Watch of choice?
TW: I’m back in love with my first watch, an old Omega Seamaster. It’s elegant and low key, which I prefer these days.
LS: Vintage Rolex Day-Date, with a brown leather strap

What bottle never leaves your cocktail cabinet?
TW: A nice bottle of Tequila and love a Japanese whisky. Hibiki is my favourite

What is your favourite hotel in Britain and why?
TW: The Connaught, near our townhouse in Mayfair

What does luxury mean to you?
TW: I’m terms of clothing: quality, comfort and uniqueness.
LS:
Luxury means for me anything that makes you feel incredible and that you continually revisit. Can be clothes, hotels, restaurants...

What menswear trend needs to die out in 2022?
TW: Anything that's too tight!
