The managing director of the bespoke bed brand reveals where he likes to eat, drink and shop, including the Beaufort Bar and the Serpentine Swimming Club

Managing director of Savoir Beds, Alistair Hughes started working life as a strategy consultant before turning to the art of creating the bespoke beds favoured by The Savoy Hotel. Over the past 10 years, Savoir has worked with some of the world’s leading designers, most recently with British designer Dame Zandra Rhodes. Launching early this year, this new design will reflect the ever-growing relationship between the home and well-being.

The Beaufort Bar

The Savoy, Strand, WC2R 0EZ

Pierre-Yves Rochan’s dramatic jet-black and burnished gold bar is the best place for a cocktail in London. The brilliantly inventive Elon Soddu has designed an ambitious menu; try his Twice Shy cocktail that is mixed with salted pistachio yoghurt and earl grey tea. thesavoylondon.com

The Serpentine Swimming Club

Hyde Park, W2 3XA

With membership to the club a mere £20 a year, you can enjoy a bracing dip in the picturesque 40-acre
lake in central London. While you may share the water with some feathered friends, you will also make plenty in the changing rooms while you thaw out over a cup of tea. serpentineswimmingclub.com

180 The Strand

WC2R 3EA

An iconic, Brutalist gallery with a great view of the Thames. It’s a more compact version of the Tate Modern, but boasts some incredible exhibitions, such as the virtual reality collaboration between Antony Gormley and Dr Priyamvada Natarajan that was on last year. 180thestrand.com

The Body Doctor

St Peter’s Crypt, Eaton Square, SW1W 9AL

Owner David Marshall is a client and has made it his mission to get me fit. I love his team’s approach. Legend has it that Game of Thrones cast trio, Alfie Allen, Kit Harrington and Richard Madden, were forbidden to go topless until they had trained with him. bodydoctor.com

Kathryn Sargent

6 Brook Street, Mayfair, W1S 1BB

Starting out as an apprentice at famed tailors Gieves & Hawkes, Kathryn rose to become the first female head
cutter on Savile Row before she set up on her own in 2012. A first-class tailor for both ladies and gentlemen, her pieces are exquisitely made and are just perfect for a sustainable wardrobe. kathrynsargent.com

Kiraku

8 Station Parade, Uxbridge Road, Ealing Common, W5 3LD

Booking is essential at this simple, but perfect Japanese restaurant — Heston Blumenthal was once famously turned away. The name translates as “relax and enjoy”, which is a guarantee with delicacies such as agedashi tofu and the sweet scallop sashimi. kiraku.co.uk
